Car Rider Procedures

After the first 9 weeks, we wanted to make sure and remind you of some car rider procedures.

  • Students may not be walked into the building by a parent. They are to go through the car rider line and exit the vehicle from the passenger side.
  • No cell phones may be used in the car rider line or in a school zone. It is the law and Officer Wilcox will be enforcing this.
  • Please make sure your car rider tag is visible and displayed during the pick up process.
  • Students should be exiting the car on their own. Please make sure they have all of their belongings for the day and are ready to quickly exit the vehicle when you pull up. This means that they may have to open their own door to exit the vehicle as well.
  • If you drop your child off after 7:50, you must walk them into the building. This is a huge safety concern!
  • Students need to be picked up by 3:40 each day.

Important Information

  • Instruction begins at 7:45 and the tardy bell rings at 7:50. If you arrive past 7:50 please walk your child to the doors so you can sign them into the office.
  • If you have any transportation changes, please make sure that you let Ms. Donna know by 2:30. This helps ensure that she has enough time to alert teachers of the change.
  • Your child may bring a water bottle to school and refill it our touch less water fountains.
  • Make sure that you label all of your child's items with their name.
  • No other students will be able to eat with you at the parent table. This will be heavily enforced this year. Parents are not allowed to go to the playground with their child.
  • If your child goes to daycare, please make sure to let the daycare know when your child won't be going to daycare on specific days for any reason. When you don't let the daycare know, it can really cause confusion for both the daycare and our school. Thank you!

Fundraiser for Kane Griffin

Greenbrier School District will be hosting two special days to show our love and support for Kane Griffin, a former Greenbrier High School athlete and the son of our principal, Mrs. Griffin.

On Monday, December 1, we will host a Hat Day, where students and staff may donate $1 to wear a hat in support of Kane and his family.
These dates and donations have special meaning — November 17 honors Kane’s football number (#17), and December 1 honors his baseball number (#1). All collected funds will go toward efforts to join the fight and show support for the Griffin family.
Thank you for helping us come together as a district to support Kane and his family during this time. Your participation means so much.

Counselor Corner

The holidays are the perfect time to represent our word of the month, empathy. There are so many ways we can show this in our daily lives: help another family during the holidays involving your child, make eye contact and thoroughly listen to your kids while they are telling you about the day. We will be talking about empathy in our counseling lessons this month.

If you ever have any questions or need anything, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.

A Note From the Nurse

5th Grade Parents:

When your student turns 11, there are additional immunizations that are required by the state to attend school. Please reach out to me if you are unsure if your student has the necessary immunizations. usseryr@greenbrierschools.org

Over Thanksgiving Break, it is the perfect time to wash those backpacks and lunchboxes. We are soon about to enter sick season and this can help get rid of those germs!
