Greenbrier Educators Prepare for Student's Career Readiness

Posted Date: 7/23/25 (2:38 PM)

Educators from the Greenbrier Public Schools recently participated in the district’s annual Career and Technical Education Tour. The unique professional development experience aimed to strengthen relationships between school staff and community partners and thus enhance connections between local programs of study and post secondary opportunities. As work based learning experiences such as internships, career practicum, and pre-apprenticeships continue to grow in importance through Arkansas’ Division of Career and Technical Education, the tour also afforded participants the opportunity to connect their courses and content to local career exploration and preparation. Industry certifications that increase employability and success in each of the career field areas were also explored. The day began with a focus on the district’s Educators Rising program as a pipeline for future teachers. The team then visited the Heavy Equipment Operating Academy in Bee Branch, First Service Bank, and Greenbrier Fire Department. The day ended with a tour of the new Faulkner County Animal Shelter. Each stop aligned with a combination of data from Greenbrier students’ career interest inventories, local work based learning opportunities, and Arkansas’ H2 High Demand and High Wage careers. Greenbrier Public Schools currently offers students several H2 Pathways, including Engineering, Information Technology and Security, Software Development, Agricultural Power, Structural, and Technical Systems, Animal Systems, Plant Systems, Pre-Educator, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management, and Supply Chain and Logistics. Students also have access to five additional, engaging pathways: Media Creation, Sports Medicine, Agribusiness Systems, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship. Many courses across the pathways are also offered for concurrent credit, providing additional learning opportunities and college preparation.
