Car Rider Procedures

After the first semester, we wanted to make sure and remind you of some car rider procedures.

  • Students may not be walked into the building by a parent. They are to go through the car rider line and exit the vehicle from the passenger side.
  • No cell phones may be used in the car rider line or in a school zone. It is the law and Officer Wilcox will be enforcing this.
  • Please make sure your car rider tag is visible and displayed during the pick up process.
  • Students should be exiting the car on their own. Please make sure they have all of their belongings for the day and are ready to quickly exit the vehicle when you pull up. This means that they may have to open their own door to exit the vehicle as well.
  • Students may not be dropped off before 7:25 when a teacher on duty is present.
  • If you drop your child off after 7:50, you must walk them into the building. This is a huge safety concern!
  • Students need to be picked up by 3:40 each day.

Important Information

  • Instruction begins at 7:45 and the tardy bell rings at 7:50. If you arrive past 7:50 please walk your child to the doors so you can sign them into the office.
  • If you have any transportation changes, please make sure that you let Ms. Donna know by 2:30. This helps ensure that she has enough time to alert teachers of the change.
  • Make sure that you label all of your child's items with their name.
  • No other students will be able to eat with you at the parent table. This will be heavily enforced this year. Parents are not allowed to go to the playground with their child.
  • Students are not allowed to chew gum due to it being placed on furniture and dropped all over the ground.
  • If your child goes to daycare, please make sure to let the daycare know when your child won't be going to daycare on specific days for any reason. When you don't let the daycare know, it can really cause confusion for both the daycare and our school. Thank you!

Counselor Corner

March 9-13

As we head into the second week of March, it’s a great time to remind our students that big feelings are normal and we can handle them in healthy ways! This is what we are learning in K-2 classes over the next few weeks.

One simple strategy we’re practicing in counseling is “Take 5” Breathing. It’s easy, quiet, and can be done anywhere — in the classroom, at home, or even on the bus.
How it works:
  1. Hold up one hand.
  2. With your other finger, trace up one finger as you breathe in.
  3. Trace down as you breathe out.
  4. Repeat for all five fingers.

Slow breaths help calm our brains, improve focus, and make cooperation easier in class.
Encourage your child to “Take 5” whenever they feel frustrated, nervous, or overwhelmed!

If you have any questions or need anything, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Hodges
hodgesc@greenbrierschools.org or 501-679-1029 ext 3.

Art Contest

Here is another wonderful opportunity for your young artist to show off their skills! The competition will be accepting admissions from now until March 31st. If you are interested in finding out more click on the link! https://arwild.org/art-contest/
